Florida Keys Fishing Report March 5

The winds are up this week but guys are still getting out excercising the stay in close option staying out of the winds. Gusts to 35 mph have been recorded in several areas of the Florida Keys and Key West.. YIKES..

The Key West fishing report for the last few days has tarpon, bonefish, pompano, permit, sharks and other fun species. Offshore I don’t have a report for you as not many guys got out. Here at Dream Catcher Charters we have been very busy getting people out for a fun time fishing.

March is one of my favorite times of the year to flats fish here in Key West. The permit are big and dumb. With the added wind a poling guide can cover more ground and the fish are not as weary with all the environmental noise the added wind offers. this might be why we hold the March Merkin Permit fly fishing tournament every year in March.
The tapron bite has been great. the wind does not seem to affect these gentle giants as our boats here at Dream Catchers have been averaging two in the air per 4 hour trip.

The Upper Florida Keys Capt. Matt of the Bamboo Charters Fleet out of Islamorada shared with me that is was business as usual with all the fun critters that make upper keys inshore fishing so much fun. Sharks, Jacks, Trout, barracudas, snappers galore. Fun days on the water but yet still a bit breezy. Offshore not allot to report as the winds have kept that fishing down a bit.
