Tarpon In Key West

Full moon is waning and the tarpon migration in Key West is well on its way.

The Atlantic facing beaches are all experiencing the traditional flow of fish we get here in Key West every year for tarpon season. As the tarpon come across the deep waters of the Carribean they run right smack into Key West as the first place for fishing. May anglers have met them there and made use of these opportunities using fly fishing gear and light tackle spin fishing. Some fish on fly over 80lbs were reported before the weekend.

With the HUGE full moon over the weekend the fishing was slower than normal in the mornings but the evening tides were NUTS…. Fish were feeding hard and we made good use of that here on the last of the outgoing tides. With the slick waters for this weeks forecast coming up the fishing will be EPIC as the moon wanes..
