September 9th 2016 – Fishing the reef off of Key West is easy. Get on line, find a good local Key West Fishing guide and set up a trip. Its way easier than bringing a boat all the way to the Florida Keys and trying your “luck”.

This week after that storm we had last week the fishing has really gotten good here in Key West on the reef. Yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper, red grouper and black grouper are all making appearances at the filet table daily. You don’t have to run far to get some nice yellowtails so a 4 hour trip should do the trick. Along with the yellowtails you stand a decent chance at c

atching a mutton snapper as well adding some color to your catch.

We fish the reefs with mostly with artificial lures here at Dream Catcher Charters but many other charters use chum and bait and that seems to work well too. We like artificial lures because it seems our anglers catch larger fish and have more fun doing it. Same result/.

Grouper are also on the reefs and in season. Anglers may want to run a little further so 6 or 8 hour trips are the best way to go for your decent catches of grouper. Our Florida Keys fishing charters offer grouper trips all up and down the Keys but we think Key West has the best grouper fishery Keys Wide.
