June 26th 2014 – The flats and backcounty waters of the Florida Keys will be busier than usual for the 4th of July holiday but both the upper keys and the Key West fishing guides have places to go to get away from it all and have a great day on the water.

The upper Keys backcountry and flats fishing guides are lucky to have the National Park to retreat into for the 4th of July holiday weekend. These days the boat traffic can be incredible in the Upper Keys near Islamorada and Key Largo. But, the show must go on and there are many fish to be caught.

Redfish and Snook Fishing Florida Keys

Expect some great tarpon fishing to start with. Get out there early and make it happen with your fishing guide. When I say early I mean 5:30 am for a first light approach. There will be less traffic and more fish. Late evenings will be good also around the bridges but the wave runner traffic will be tough to keep the bite going. … Tarpon Fishing Report…..  In the National Park the redfish are around with some reports of nice snook and laid up tarpon as well. The bonefishing will be best on the cooler tides.Call your local flats fishing or backcountry fishing guides. They should have some availability. Book for at least 6 hour trips to make sure you get the whole feel of it and let your fishing guide really explore your options for you.

In Key West and The Lower Keys the flats and backcountry fishing will be very good of this 4th of July holiday with the weather set up the way it is. Calm conditions with Carribean clear waters will be enhancing a great bite for tarpon and permit along all the flats facing both the Atlantic and the Gulf Of Mexico.  Some bonefish are being caught in the backcountry and this will continue to improve through the Holiday weekend.
