Snook, Trout and Mackerel Inshore Fishing

Snook Fishing Snook fishing has come back with a vengeance in the Upper Keys.

Inshore fishing for snook, trout and mackerel are the highlights of the fishing reports up and down the Florida Keys all the way to Key West especially for our backcountry fishing fans. The weather this week has been a bit blustery with the seasons first cold fronts marching down and chilling us with brisk Northerly winds and cooler temps.

Snook Fishing

The upper keys are reporting some amazing numbers of snook being caught in the backcountry out of Islamorada and Key Largo. Half day backcountry fishing charters are reporting up to 40 snook being caught in a single charter with 3-4 anglers. Furthermore some of those snook are over slot in size. That is truly great news and those are incredible numbers.

Since the cold snap of 2010 there have been some strong regulations on snook fishing and it seems they have really helped. Super excited to see how the rest of the year unfolds..

Backcountry Fishing

The rest of the backcountry is coming alive in the 70 degree water temps with a consistent catch of many species such as sea trout, mackerel, snappers, lady fish, jacks and some pompano. All up and down the Florida Keys fishing reports there are great trips being reported of a fish every cast with our backcountry trips. Some nice large trout have been invited to lunch for many anglers with the speedy hits of spanish mackerel mixing up the bag. I really love this time of the year for that angler who wants to cast and bend a rod.

Fun days catching trout in the Florida Keys Backcountry.

Backcountry fishing charters are a great way for fisher-persons of all ages to enjoy a great day of fishing, learning and catching all while avoiding the big waves of offshore deep sea fishing. We ofter say the backcountry is calm, clear and pretty..

Fishing Forecast

December is a great time to get lost in the islands and see what bites with the number of species to fish for here anglers will not get bored waiting for a bite. This is also a great time of the year to expect a good chance of bringing home some lunch or dinner in the form of a nice snapper. It seems that this December is starting off a bit windy and cool which makes the shallows look all that better to those looking to enjoy a day of fishing without the possibility of getting sea sick.
