Fall Tarpon Florida Keys

Is the tail end of September and tarpon season has been officially over now for a few months but that does not mean there are no tarpon.

Reports from all up and down the Florida Keys to Key West are showing that the tarpon are still here. These are resident tarpon that hang around all year. No, not the ones in the marinas at Robies but similar fish that congregate around areas of bait and easy flow to hang out till the waters get so cold they have to leave.

In the upper Florida Keys Tarpon Fishing our guides are finding fish on the creek mouths and along the shore lines looking for bait fish to hit back in the ENP (Everglades National Park) . These fish are 15 – 40 lbs and fun to fight.

The middle Florida Keys the tarpon fishing is mainly focused on the baby tarpon variety. Tarpon from 5 – 30 lbs working the flats eating the shrimps. Our fishing guides can get you into these fish with regularity.

The Key West area is still holding larger tarpon out West toward the Marqueasas Keys fishing grounds. Tarpon ranging in size from 30- 130 lbs are still available.

Booking a tarpon fishing trip this time of the year with a tarpon fishing guide is possible. But remember it is NOT tarpon season and this report is based off the last 10 days of fishing and from 15 different fishing guides. We will do everything we can to get you on the tarpon but know its not as good as tarpon season..
