Tarpon Season Begins

Large Key West Tarpon

WOW! Nice Tarpon. Caught in Key West with Dream Catcher Charters.

April 10 2016 – Let the games begin. With the winter subsiding and the spring taking its place the tarpon fishing Florida Keys is getting really good. Channels, bridges, backcountry waters and edges are all having good populations of tarpon moving in and out with the tides like they do every year.

Reports of more tarpon than normal are coming in. By my own observations there seem to be a larger number of big tarpon this year. I have had clients jump off several fish in the 120 lb plus category. Reports I am hearing from the upper Keys is that the tarpon have moved into the channels and around the bridges very well. Both day and night time tarpon bite has been really good.

Will it get better? I think so. This week our winds are coming down off the 15 – 20 we have today and going to a nice spring like 10-12 and a falling barometer offering us a nice tropical feel to the air which will certainly heat up the bite. I see April as being a great month to set up for a good shot at some super Florida Keys tarpon fishing.

There is still availability in some of our Tarpon fishing guides Schedules in April.
Just give us a call to book your day.
