Beating the heat out on the beaches! July 20 2011

August can be hot here in the Florida Keys! But you can beat the heat by getting out early in the day and wrapping up your fishing by 1 pm, then going back out after 4 pm until sunset. We’ve been fishing the beaches of the Everglades National Park lately and the action is nonstop. Light tackle spin outfits spooled with Suffix Braid 832 allows you to make long casts with 1/4 ounce jigs tipped with a 3 inch Berkley GULP! shrimp and it doesn’t take long to hook up.
It is said that variety is the spice of life so its easy to say that the action on the beaches is spicy! Snook, Redfish and Sea Trout have been the mainstay at the Cape and huge sharks and some Tarpon are showing up for a fight as well. A live Ladyfish or Jack drifted behind the boat never lasts long. Bull sharks up to and exceding 200 lbs love to crash the baits and these monsters will challenge any angler.
For a great day on the water book a morning run to the beach with Bamboo Charters the next time to head to the Upper Keys and get in on the fun!
