Reporting from Key West at Dream Catcher Charters on Stock Island

I am Capt. Steven Lamp with the October Florida Keys Fishing Report and some Forecasting.

This October has been a partially drippy one to say the least. A tropical system brought along with it our 10 year flood we get here and rinsed everything off last week. Many October rain total records were set. Now things are back to normal and we are back on the water…

Florida Keys – Islamorada, Key Largo

Upper Keys guides made good on the fresh water by wring the out flows for some great snook, trout and red fishing. Offshore the upper Florida Keys report is tuna on the Islamorada hump and the occasional sailfish to boot. October in the upper Florida Keys holds some stellar bone fishing this time of the year with slobs traditionally hitting the 12 and 14 pound range. Key Largo and Islamorada fishing this time of the year is off the hook and should be taken advantage of.. Call Anna at 1-305-394-7299 to book a trip out of the upper Florida Keys..

Florida KeysKey West Fishing

Key West got the worst of the rain but that is a good thing. this really lowers the salinity in our area and balances out the PH in the water where we have little if no affect from the fresh waters of the Florida Bay..

Water was a bit chalky to start off but now it is clean as a bell and things are back to normal with only one very pleasant difference.. Cooler air temps make the day a joy to be out there.

Our guides here at Dream Catcher Charters are covering the board with fun fish like jacks, lady fish, sharks and the lot while it was chalky. Now, I have had a few reports of the bonefish showing back up in good numbers on the flats with permit and baby tarpon along the edges as well. Back to normal I’d say.. More to report after the backcounmtry comes to normal..

November is coming to Key West right after the crowds of Fantasy Fest subside. November backcountry fishing is EPIC>. If you are considering coming here in November do not even hesitate.. our schedules are perfect for last minute bookings so you can work around the weather. Bonefish, and permit are the flats fish to be pursued in November with the occasional shot at Tarpon, PLUS the winter crew will arrive by mid November offering our Key West fishing anglers shots at as many as 23 hard pulling species of fish after fish action.. Not To Be Missed. The gang at Dream Catcher Charters can help get you out there. Call 1-888-362-3474  Speak to Robert or Gennifer for more information.

Offshore Key West

Bottom fishing is the Name Of The Game in October here offshore of Key West in this fishing report. Grouper are still in season and start to show up in the shallows on the patch reefs here in Key West. Many times we can limit the boat out on snappers and grouper West of Key West making for a great day..

… Well, its a transition month for Key West deep sea fishing trolling in the blue waters. Black fin tunas, Bonito, the occasional sailfish and the start of our king fish season here in Key West. The boats do not have to run to far so its a short shot to some potentially great fishing..
